Conclusion. iPhone 12 is, at its core, a showcase of how much software really matters in cameras nowadays. Five years ago, we would have likely looked at the camera improvements on the iPhone 12 by focusing on what is new under that camera bump. While an improvement in the lens is nice, we would’ve probably shrugged it off as a minor improvement.
The iPhone 12 has much better technology & will last 5 years easily. Don't get the iPhone 12 now in 2022. I've been using it since 2 years and the battery life has come down significantly. Performance and everything is great about it but the battery life and 60hz screen are a bit outdated according to me.

So with that logic, iOS 16 is dropping iPhone 7 a year early. So I suspect this means that a situation is going to repeat much like it did with the iPhone 6 and other A8 based devices where the last iOS version that they supported gets security updates for at least another year. Since the iPhone 6 was in the exact same spot when it was dropped. A replacement battery is cheap and easy to install yourself. Or drop 800-900+ $ for 5G, water rating, wireless charging, screen notch or an iphone 😱. My OnePlus 7 Pro today is by far much better than what it was new 3½ years ago. DEFINITELY WORTH IT IN 2022.
Agree with everything. 2018 pro is incredibly capable till this day. I think what highlights the “value” compared to the newest iPad is the 120hz refresh screen, 2nd gen Apple Pencil compatibility, and the connector that allows it to use the magic trackpad cases, or just magic cases in general, still being made today.
I was apple curious at one point and bought a 6S which was released in 2015 and supported until September 2022, it outlived my Pixel 3A which was released 2019 and ended May 2022. Plus being able to sideload apps after end of service is only fun for projects and such - after security updates stop coming in a device should effectively be retired

The ones I’m looking at average about 90-95% battery health which I find fairly decent, considering I’m on a 76% battery health iPhone 8 Plus, at the worst case the XR’s are about 88% which to me still isn’t terrible, I feel like it would be worth it even with the battery replacement, because I’d be paying £330-£350 for an 11 which would need a replacement, which then in my opinion
